Car Health Data

Continuous Car Data

Live car data tells you what your car is doing right now. Continuous car data lets you see what it was doing throughout the entire drive.

Your engine is constantly changing. RPM rises and falls. Coolant temperature climbs as the engine warms. Throttle position changes with your foot. Vehicle speed changes with traffic and terrain. Battery and charging voltage can change with engine speed and electrical load.

A single reading can be useful. But sometimes the important information is not one number — it is how the numbers change over time and how they change in relation to each other.

The difference is time.
Instead of asking, "What is my engine doing right now?" continuous data lets you ask, "What did my engine do during the drive?"

More Than a Live Snapshot

Live Data

A typical live-data display shows what the vehicle is reporting at this moment: current RPM, current temperature, current speed and other readings.

Look away from the screen and that moment is gone.

Continuous Data

Car Health Data records vehicle information throughout your drive, creating a history that you can examine afterward.

Instead of remembering a number you happened to see, you can review what happened before, during and after an event.

Dynamic Data Shows Relationships

A car is a dynamic system. One measurement often becomes more meaningful when you can compare it with another.

Suppose you notice an unusual temperature reading. What was the engine RPM at that time? How fast was the car moving? Was the throttle open? What happened to the readings immediately before and afterward?

Or suppose charging voltage changes during a drive. Did the change occur at idle, at higher RPM, or while other operating conditions were changing?

By recording data continuously, Car Health Data gives you the opportunity to examine those relationships instead of relying on an isolated reading.

Record the Drive. Analyze It Later.

Car Health Data works with a compatible OBD-II adapter and your phone to collect vehicle data while you drive.

Depending on the vehicle and the information it makes available through OBD-II, recorded data can include:

Live Data What Continuous Recording Adds
Engine RPM See changes in engine speed throughout the drive.
Vehicle Speed Compare engine behavior with actual driving conditions.
Coolant Temperature See warm-up and temperature changes over time.
Throttle Position Relate engine readings to changes in throttle.
Engine Load See how engine load changes under different conditions.
Fuel Trim Observe short-term and long-term fuel correction behavior.
Intake / Airflow Data Compare intake information with other engine measurements.
Voltage Follow battery and charging-system behavior during a drive.

After the drive, the recorded information remains available for review and analysis. You don't have to diagnose the car while you're driving — and you don't have to depend on remembering what flashed across a small live-data screen.

Why Continuous Vehicle Data Matters

Many vehicle problems are intermittent. A hesitation, temperature change, rough idle or unusual electrical reading may happen only under particular conditions.

Continuous recording gives you a record of those conditions. Even when there is no trouble code, the changing data may reveal patterns worth investigating.

It can also provide a useful baseline when the vehicle is operating normally. Future drives can then be compared with earlier ones to see what has changed.

A Drive Tells a Story

Think about a cold start. Coolant temperature begins near ambient temperature. Engine RPM may initially be elevated. As the engine warms, RPM settles, coolant temperature rises, throttle changes with driving, and engine load varies with acceleration, hills and traffic.

None of those individual numbers necessarily tells the whole story. Together, over time, they describe how the vehicle behaved.

That is the idea behind continuous car data: not simply displaying vehicle data, but preserving the changing picture so it can be examined afterward.

Your Car Produces Data Throughout Every Drive

An OBD-II connection can provide much more than a trouble-code lookup. Car Health Data is designed around the idea that the history of the drive can be just as useful as the reading on the screen right now.

Record it. Keep it. Review it. Analyze it.
